Ricky Tyler is a singer, rapper, and composer from East Johannesburg, South Africa.

Ricky’s entertainment career began in 2012, when he participated in a talent search audition hosted at Emperors Palace by the Applause Rising Talent Showcase & the International Arts Convention, winning the opportunity to walk the catwalk at the PLITZ for New York Fashion Week. Ricky impressed the judges and was chosen as one of the winning South Africans to represent the country during fashion week in America in 2013.

In 2016, he signed with PlayGround Productions and released his debut track ‘Swerve’, which was so well received that it was remixed by fellow Def Jam artist Tshego.

Ricky’s following track, Deja Vu, earned him an invitation to Afropunk’s Battle Of The Bands competition, where he advanced to the final stages.

In early 2020, Ricky signed with UMG’s newest branch, Def Jam Africa, and released Thirty K’s, the first track off his highly awaited debut, Small World. Ricky’s debut album was launched on July 17th, and it has received over 2 million streams across all major platforms.
