Lady Zamar Releases New Single ‘Colours’ Off Of Upcoming Project

Lady Zamar released a new track named ‘Colours’ ahead of her next project ‘Rainbow’. ‘Colours’ is a lively and vivid song in which Lady Zamar not only demonstrates her vocal range, but also her musical range, as she introduces a new sound.

In the new tune, the singer discusses the significance of discovering her own personality.

With this evocative Afrobeat production as a backdrop, Lady Zamar sings about spending nights praying before finding the space to be fully comfortable as the newest version of herself.

About: Lady Zamar is a 26-year-old South African singer, composer, and performer. She has three albums: ‘King Zamar’ (2017), ‘Monarch’ (2019), and ‘Dragons’ (2020). Lady Zamar has worked with several musicians, including Da L.E.S, Rowlene, Kwesta, Sun-EL Musician, and Mlindo The Vocalist. Her music is influenced by jazz, neo-soul, and Afro-pop.

The Early Years: Lady Zamar, born Yamikani Banda in 1994, grew up in Pretoria, South Africa, with her grandmother. She was strongly influenced by musicians like as Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, and Aretha Franklin, who inspired her to pursue music from an early age. She started writing her own music when she was 15 years old and soon began singing it live.

Breakthrough: Lady Zamar’s debut album, ‘King Zamar’, received critical praise in South Africa. The smash tune ‘My Baby’ from the album topped numerous radio charts across the country. Later that year, she received three South African Music Awards nominations: Best Female Artist of the Year, Best Newcomer, and Best R&B/Soul/Reggae Album of the Year.

Awards and Accolades: Lady Zamar has received various accolades during her career, including Best Female Artist of the Year at the South African Music Awards (2017) and Best Pop Album at the Metro FM Music Awards 2019. She has received many award nominations, including Best Dance Single of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2020.
